Robots – The Interactive Exhibition

The wit, excitement and imagination of 20th Century Fox’s animated film Robots combine for a fun, educational experience that the whole family will enjoy.

The Exhibition features more than 15 interactive areas offering scientific adventures that allow visitors to enter the world of robotics and explore the “reel and real” science of robotics.

Robot Explorers, visitors can use a robotic probe to explore underwater, deep space or the surface of mars.

Crosstown Express,  families can climb aboard and take a spin inside a metal ball transporter around the wonders of Robot City.  As they watch the three-dimensional screen ahead of them, their seats rattle, the wind blows and the sensation of twisting and turning around the wild track takes them into the world of reel and real robotic vehicles.

Industrial Robots allows visitors to program an actual Ford robotic arm, and Robot Round Up explores robots in daily life, allowing visitors to use remotes to control various types  of robots.

Build-a-Wonder-Bot that performs useful functions, such as helping with daily chores, and learn about the future of robotics and how they will reshape our world.

Hollywood Robots Hall of Fame:  visitors will view various images in a montage of robots from movies and television through the ages.  C-3PO (Star Wars™), Robby the Robot (Forbidden Planet), and Gort (The Day the Earth Stood Still).

Robot round Up – from toys to machines that clean our homes, robots are making a difference in our daily lives.  In this fun-filled area, visitors will be able to control and handle many types of robots, some of which are currently available including the Roomba and the robosapien.  Using remotes, guests can put each of these products through their paces.

Future of robots, families can view companies and robotic machines that are shaping the future, including Leondardo from MIT and Stan Winston from ASIMO, along with the next generation of robots that will help to change our world.

Robots:  The Interactive Exhibition will be included in our General Admission ticket and is FREE for Annual Members, as part of their free General Admission benefit.

BMO World of Creativity: Method and Madness

Enter a place where geometric shapes and primary colours form the language, legends, and landscape of a new, imaginary culture. Move throughout the space to create performative compositions with sound and movement, construct mythological creatures in paper, decode cryptographic messages and develop new stories based on the immersive experience of method and madness!

Method and Madness was designed by local designer and illustrator, Gabe Wong. In this space, families are encouraged to explore ideas of abstraction, story, and theatre in art! The BMO World of Creativity is an interactive, hands-on space where children and their grown-ups can explore their creativity. BMO World of Creativity exhibitions and themes change from year-to-year.

The Works Art & Design Festival

The Works International Visual Arts Society produces The Works Art & Design Festival which attracts artists and patrons from around the world, boosting the energy and imagination of Downtown Edmonton at the start of every summer. The Works is a free event that draws an audience representing all ages and interests, offering over 200 exciting exhibits and special events to the public.

Marshall Lawrence. Enjoy the pyramids in a tranquil atmosphere and subdued light, before taking in the sounds of Marshall Lawrence, Maple Blues Award Nominee and Canadian Independent Music Award Nominee. Marshall performs acoustic slide and finger-style blues and roots with a true and genuine blues feel.

  • Take a Tour - Our knowledgeable public interpretation staff will be taking guests on tours of the pyramids throughout the evening. Join one of the “Not Just a Leaf” tours at 6, 7 or 8pm  and learn something new during your visit.

A Midsummer Eve Fairy Celebration

Presented by John Janzen Nature Centre.

Midsummers’ Eve is a time of celebration for Fairies. Gather ’round our bonfire and hear the myths and stories of the little people. With some centuries old traditions, some luck and the right songs and dances we may catch a glimpse into the veil of the fairies! We will even travel into the forest and view the little houses being prepared for them. Hot beverages provided.

You are welcome to bring a lawn chair, clothing appropriate for the weather and your own fairy wings! No admission or registration required – drop in.
