Robots – The Interactive Exhibition

The wit, excitement and imagination of 20th Century Fox’s animated film Robots combine for a fun, educational experience that the whole family will enjoy.

The Exhibition features more than 15 interactive areas offering scientific adventures that allow visitors to enter the world of robotics and explore the “reel and real” science of robotics.

Robot Explorers, visitors can use a robotic probe to explore underwater, deep space or the surface of mars.

Crosstown Express,  families can climb aboard and take a spin inside a metal ball transporter around the wonders of Robot City.  As they watch the three-dimensional screen ahead of them, their seats rattle, the wind blows and the sensation of twisting and turning around the wild track takes them into the world of reel and real robotic vehicles.

Industrial Robots allows visitors to program an actual Ford robotic arm, and Robot Round Up explores robots in daily life, allowing visitors to use remotes to control various types  of robots.

Build-a-Wonder-Bot that performs useful functions, such as helping with daily chores, and learn about the future of robotics and how they will reshape our world.

Hollywood Robots Hall of Fame:  visitors will view various images in a montage of robots from movies and television through the ages.  C-3PO (Star Wars™), Robby the Robot (Forbidden Planet), and Gort (The Day the Earth Stood Still).

Robot round Up – from toys to machines that clean our homes, robots are making a difference in our daily lives.  In this fun-filled area, visitors will be able to control and handle many types of robots, some of which are currently available including the Roomba and the robosapien.  Using remotes, guests can put each of these products through their paces.

Future of robots, families can view companies and robotic machines that are shaping the future, including Leondardo from MIT and Stan Winston from ASIMO, along with the next generation of robots that will help to change our world.

Robots:  The Interactive Exhibition will be included in our General Admission ticket and is FREE for Annual Members, as part of their free General Admission benefit.

BMO World of Creativity: Method and Madness

Enter a place where geometric shapes and primary colours form the language, legends, and landscape of a new, imaginary culture. Move throughout the space to create performative compositions with sound and movement, construct mythological creatures in paper, decode cryptographic messages and develop new stories based on the immersive experience of method and madness!

Method and Madness was designed by local designer and illustrator, Gabe Wong. In this space, families are encouraged to explore ideas of abstraction, story, and theatre in art! The BMO World of Creativity is an interactive, hands-on space where children and their grown-ups can explore their creativity. BMO World of Creativity exhibitions and themes change from year-to-year.

Callingwood Farmer’s Market

Callingwood Farmers’ Market is Edmonton’s original and largest Sunday market. Our 2012 season opens on Sunday, May 6, 2012. We will run Sundays 10am-3pm and Wednesdays 2pm-6pm, rain or shine until Thanksgiving.

We offer the finest of locally grown fresh, organic produce and meats, delicious home made food, top quality plants, unique arts and crafts, exclusive hand made products and much more! Our vendors offer innovative and unique products that you will enjoy so much that you’ll have to come back for more!

The Callingwood Farmers’ Market is conveniently located in the covered courtyard area of The Marketplace at Callingwood shopping centre on the corner of 69 Avenue and 178 Street. We are a stone’s throw from the Anthony Henday and Whitemud freeways, making us easily accessible from anywhere in Edmonton and surrounding area. We also offer free and convenient parking.

Callingwood Farmers’ Market is an Alberta Approved Farmers’ Market through Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. As an approved market we proudly display the Sunny Girl logo. This indicates that we have met the program guidelines, to ensure you that we are selling the best products.

At the Callingwood Farmers’ Market our philosophy is that you make it, bake it, grow it and then sell it. We adhere to the 80/20 rule where 80% of our vendors sell products that they have either made, baked or grown.

You can be assured that the majority of products purchased from the Callingwood market go to helping support our local economy.

Father’s Day at Fort Edmonton Park

Dad’s accompanying their children get in FREE! Father’s Day at Fort Edmonton Park will be filled with fun challenges for Dad and family. Come enjoy our scenic historical museum while you put yourself to the test with our “Click to Win Photo Challenge!” Start at the Train Station, where you will get your instructions and find out where you’ll have to go, what you’ll have to do to enjoy the challenge! Use your digital camera or smart phone to capture the images specified on our list.

Go online later to submit your best digital photos of the challenges for your chance to win (prize yet to be determined). Fort Edmonton Park opens its doors at 10 a.m., event activities and challenges begin at 11 a.m.
