Urban Family Events: Mar 15th – 21st

ID-100144899Ukrainian Shumka Dancers Matinee Series (Friday, March 15th at 10am & 1pm at the Jubilee Auditorium) – Introduce your little ones to Ukrainian Shumka dancing with these matinee performances for only $15 per person.

Edmonton School of Ballet Presents The Magic of Musicals (Saturday, March 16th & Sunday, March 17th at 4pm  at the Jubilee Auditorium) – This show features dancers ages 3 to adult as well as songs from The Sound of Music, Oliver, Annie and other favourite musicals.

Yarmarok 2013 – Pre-Easter Bazaar (Saturday, March 16th & Sunday, March 17th at Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex) – Be sure to check out all of the fun activities that you can take part in for only a $5 admission! Activities include Ukrainian dancing, a children’s penny carnival that includes a petting zoo and colouring contest, baked goods and more!

St. Patrick’s Day Fairy Festival (Sunday, March 17th from 11am-3pm at John Janzen Nature Centre) – Spend the afternoon learning all about fairies and leprechauns. Other activities include interacting with some visiting animals from the Edmonton Valley Zoo, going on a scavenger hunt, doing a science experiment, and more!

Bouge de là performs L’atelier (The Studio)  (Sunday, March 17th at 2pm at The Arden Theatre) – Get there early to enjoy the free pre-show activities before enjoying a performance featuring dancers exploring an art studio and producing amazing results.

WEM Attractions Presents Playtime: Easter Crafts with Chapters (Tuesday, March 19th from 10am-12pm at West Edmonton Mall) – Bring your toddlers to this free event that lets the little ones make their own Easter decorations.

We’ve Got Rhythm” – Tours For Tots (Wednesday, March 20th from 10am-11am at the Art Gallery of Alberta) - Bring your 3-5 year old and explore rhythm in art.

Animology Tour (Friday, February 15th – Monday, February 18th at Sherwood Park Mall) – Safari Jeff is at Sherwood Park Mall this weekend giving wildlife demonstrations (Friday: 1:30pm & 6:30pm; Saturday-Monday: 1pm & 3pm). If you can’t make it to one of the shows, the exhibit is open all day.

Family Winter Festival (Saturday, February 16th from 10am-3pm at Rabbit Hill) – Spend the day skiing or have fun enjoying sleigh-rides, an ice climbing wall, an obstacle course and more!

Meet and Greet with Darth Vader (Saturday, February 16th from 11am-3pm at Kingsway Mall) – Gather your Star Wars fans and go to Kingsway Mall to meet Darth Vader!

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) (Sunday, February 17th at 2pm at Fort Edmonton Park) – Bring the family and watch the classic movie loved by many. Tickets are $10.

3344673317_226422557fStrawberry Shortcake with very special guests The Doodlebops (Saturday, January 19th at 1pm and 4pm at the Jubilee Auditorium) – Get your tickets now before they’re gone and enjoy an afternoon of fun, music and dancing with the beloved Strawberry Shortcake and her guests, The Doodlebops.

Edmonton Pet Expo (Saturday, January 19th – Sunday, January 20th at Edmonton EXPO Centre) – Animal lovers will love this weekend featuring a variety of great animal acts that includes Buttercup, The Skateboarding Bulldog.

House of Cards Challenge (Saturday, January 19th – Sunday, January 20th from 12pm-4pm at Telus World of Science) - This is your opportunity to display your ability to build a house out of cards. This activity is free with admission.

Robert Burns Celebrations (Sunday, January 20th at Rutherford House) - Celebrate the birthday of Scotland’s beloved Robert Burns by sampling shortbread and haggis, and enjoying live dancing, pipes and drums.

Iordan – Feast of Jordan (Saturday, January 19th from 10am-2pm at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village) – Take part in the commemoration of the baptism of Christ, one of the most important holy days on the Ukrainian church calendar, and tour some of the historic buildings on site, eat some food, take a horse-drawn wagon ride and learn about how the day was historically celebrated.

WEM Attractions Presents Playtime: Bowling Bash at Ed’s Rec Room (Tuesday, January 22nd from 10am-12pm at West Edmonton Mall) – Bowl for free with features that include lane bumpers, light-weight bowling balls, and special ramps.

Textures and Patterns” – Tours For Tots (Wednesday, January 23rd at the Art Gallery of Alberta) - Bring your 3-5 year old and learn all about texture and patterns.

Reel Family Cinema (Saturday, January 12th at 2pm at Garneau Theatre) – Enjoy a traditional family Saturday afternoon matinee movie this Saturday by taking your children to see Matilda. Children under the age of 12 get in free!

The VIP Kids Show! (Saturday, January 12th at 11am at Varscona Theatre) – Enjoy a show for all ages that features puppetry, improv, music and more.
