We want to hear how you do it, Moms! Are you a mom in Edmonton, a career mom, a stay-at-home mom, an entrepreneur mom, something somewhere in between? Contact us (email@example.com) to be profiled!
Tell us about you, your children and where you live
My name is Sarah. I’m 32 years old and married to a wonderful man who also happens to be a police officer. We have one daughter, Sommer, who is about to turn three. We live in Spruce Grove.
Do you have help? (incl childcare, housework, personal assistant)
Yes. I work part time as a Communications Specialist so Sommer attends a day home three times a week. We also have a wonderful housekeeper and use a yard maintenance service.
I love to be social, be it through Twitter, meeting up and having coffee with a friend, or just a simple play date at someone’s house.
Extracurricular activities for you?
When I can, I head out and pound the pavement. Running is the only thing I’ve found that frees me from the bothers of my day, so I try to do it often.
Extracurricular activities for your babe/children?
She started her first full year ballet class in September and loves it. We want her to try soccer this spring as well.
What does a typical family day look like to you (Saturday/Sunday)?
My husband works every other weekend so our family days sometimes come at odd times. We do our best to make the most of them. During the spring and summer we love to daytrip to Jasper. If we stay local we love to go out for breakfast and head out to Hawrelak Park.
Who cooks dinner?
We both do. Hubs is a master with the barbeque and I love to cook, sometimes we argue over who gets to cook that night!
How does the grocery shopping get done, by whom, with the kids, and do you use coupons?
When I am at work and Sommer is at the day home, if Hubs wakes from sleeping off his night shift early enough he will do the groceries. I might have to go back to get the odd item he missed but I am able to get in and out quickly so if Sommer has to come with me it’s not really a big deal. I’m not a huge coupon-er but I do keep my eye open for sales.
How often do you buy something for yourself?
I am ashamed to admit I only just recently started splurging on myself again since before I had Sommer. I am a sucker for beauty products and buy them fairly often. I also love makeup and getting my hair done. I do this every few months or so (or when its necessary).
Do you exercise and if so, how/when do you fit the time in to do that?
I run whenever I can. I save time by just running out the door and around my neighbourhood.
Favourite nookie song?
People actually stop and put music on?
Favourite beverage special coffee, cocktail?

Favourite pair of shoes?

‘Cannot leave home without it’ item?
My phone. I think my heart might stop.
