Urban Family Events: Sept 14th – 20th

Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse (Tuesday, September 11th – Sunday, October 14th at the Edmonton City Centre Airport) – This show celebrating horses is often called an “equestrian ballet” and features 49 horses and 39 artists. The show’s schedule has already been extended due to demand so be sure to get your tickets now!

Saturday Morning All-You-Can-Eat-Cereal Cartoon Party (Saturday, September 15th from 10am-1pm at Garneau Theatre) – Enjoy bottomless cereal as your family watches non-stop retro cartoons and ads from the 70′s and 8o’s.

EPL Squared – Your Library Inside Out! (Saturday, September 15th 10am-6pm in Churchill Square) – Be sure to visit this outdoor library festival that features games, prizes, storytelling, food as well as the Books2Buy book sale where you can buy books, CDs, and DVDs for a dollar or two.

Community League Day (Saturday, September 15th – Follow the link for locations) – Celebrate your community by taking part in the annual Community League Day. Activities vary by community but many include pancake breakfasts, corn or hotdog roasts, bouncy houses, games and other fun, family-friendly activities.

I’m Too Big For It Sales (Saturday, September 15th starting at 10am) – Be sure to check out some new-to-you items at the “I’ve Outgrown It” sales at The Park Church in Sherwood Park (10am-2pm) and Esther Starkman School in Edmonton (10am-1pm).

Off-Whyte Garage Sale (Sunday, September 16th from 12pm-5pm) - Visit the Old Strathcona Off-Whyte Garage Sale where, when you’re not shopping, families will be entertained by live music, crafts, storytelling, and more. As a bonus, the first 30 new members to drop by the outdoor activity tent will be given free library memberships.

Extraordinary vs. Everyday – BMO All Day Sundays (Sunday, September 16th at the Art Gallery of Alberta) - After exploring the Misled by Nature: Contemporary Art and the Baroque exhibit and viewing the contemporary art, take part in making your own art or a Baroque-inspired picture frame.

“Big Vs. Small” – Tours For Tots (Wednesday, September 19th at the Art Gallery of Alberta) - Bring your 3-5 year old and spend an hour comparing and creating art of different sizes.
