Urban Family Events: July 13th – 19th

Edmonton International Street Performers Festival (July 6th – 15th) – Visit one of the most popular summer festivals in Edmonton and be entertained by over 1500 various street performers including jugglers, unicyclists and acrobats!

Freewill Shakespeare Festival (June 26th – July 22nd in Hawrelak Park) - Enjoy many of Shakespeare’s most popular works under the Heritage Amphitheatre tent.

Show & Shine (July 14th from 12:30pm – 4:30pm at The Marketplace at Callingwood) – While you admire the impressive custom cars and boats, your kids will be entertained by the face painting, a “Cars” bouncy house, balloon animals and other fun family-friendly activities.

Celtic Gathering (July 14th & 15th at Fort Edmonton Park) – Celebrate Scottish and Celtic culture featuring Celtic dancing, pipe band and drumming competitions, a Scottish merchant market, feats of strength and more!

Race Week Edmonton (July 14th – 22nd in various locations) – Gear up for the Edmonton Indy by taking part in a variety of family-friendly Race Week activities happening around the City including meet-and-greets and the Superstars of Monster Jam.

Float Fest 2012 (July 15th from 8:30am – 5pm in the River Valley) – Take advantage of the warm weather and take the family out to enjoy the Sourdough Raft Race that includes a pancake breakfast, Kids Zone mini carnival, kite flying and even more fun.

National Zookeeper Week Summer Celebration (July 15th from 12pm-4pm at the Edmonton Valley Zoo) – Meet the Zookeepers and participate in activities such as: scavenger hunts, hands-on science experiments, games, crafts and more.

Family Nature Night (July 18th from 6:30pm – 8pm at  Hawrelak Park) – Every Wednesday night until August 29th, take part in a free Family Nature Night where you will explore nature and maybe even learn a thing or two about our natural environment.

A Taste of Edmonton (July 19th – 28th in Churchill Square) – Edmonton’s tastiest festival starts on July 19th. Be sure to check it out and sample some of the great dishes and drinks that Edmonton has to offer. A new feature this year is the introduction of up to 5 gourmet food trucks!

Capital Ex Parade (July 19th from 11am-noon in downtown Edmonton) – This is always a popular family event so be sure to get downtown early so you can snag some great seats for yourself! Get there for 10am and enjoy pre-parade goodies and swag and compete for best costume in this year’s musical theme.
